The Polar Aquarium in Harbin Polar Park is the world's first polar-themed performing-art amusement park. It's among the four major attractions of the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival and a national AAAA tourist spot.Visitors can watch penguins waddle, polar bears lounge, and seals swim gracefully. The beluga whale and dolphin shows, with engaging trainer-animal interactions, are a must-see. The Aquarium showcases the enchanting polar ecosystem, making it a great place to explore nature and experience the charm of these fascinating animals.
The first thing visitors can see is decorated to imitate the Arctic ice cave, where there will be a light and shadow show from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The colorful beams of light intertwine, creating a dynamic display of light and shadow in the surrounding area, as if visitors were in the dreamy underwater world, dancing with fish and embracing the aurora borealis.
On the left side of the hall is the Arctic Animal Exhibition Hall, where visitors can see Arctic foxes and Arctic wolves. The world's first cloned Arctic wolf, Maya, and her surrogate Beagle mother live here. The Beagle often sits on Maya, and although Maya is a fierce Arctic wolf, she is remarkably gentle with the Beagle and never snarls at her. Their heartwarming bond often leaves visitors deeply moved.
The beluga whale show on the ground floor of the Polar Museum is also very popular. Every day at 10:30 am and 3:30 pm there is a beluga show. Here, visitors can see the beluga whales and their trainers’ seamless teamwork. In the crystal-clear water, these elegant creatures follow their trainers' commands to perform challenging routines—playing with balls, leaping out of the water, and even swinging their bodies to create heart-shaped poses. It is a visual feast.
In addition to the beluga whale show, the dolphin show on the first floor is also definitely not to be missed. The dolphin show is scheduled at different times from the beluga show, which is staged at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm. Using 3D technology, the show projects vibrant images of many dolphins in the performance hall. As the protagonists, their performances are no less impressive. They are like elves in the water shuttling as fast as lightning, and then leaping high out of the water. After spinning hula hoops with their mouths, they carry the trainer out of the water from the bottom.
The Escaping Penguins have always been the talk of the Polar Aquarium. Visitors are treated to the sight of these cute, adorable balls of joy. They stroll around the aquarium, performing antics and taking tender steps. Their cuteness is irresistible. As they have taken part in the launching of the 2022 Winter Olympics’ event “Penguins Searches for Bing Dwen Dwen”, they have helped to make the Winter Olympics much more enjoyable and greatly increased its appeal.
