Stretching 2,309 kilometers and covering a drainage area of 556,800 square kilometers, the Songhua River freezes every winter with a thickness of about 1 meter. For the people of Heilongjiang Province, the Songhua River holds a special place as their mother river. With the booming tourism in Harbin, the Songhua River has gained increasing recognition and admiration from visitors nationwide.
The Songhua River Ice and Snow Carnival is a large-scale themed entertainment event featuring numerous exciting activities. I recommend the ticket price with 398 yuan, with this ticket, visitors can access all 30 amusement projects. Each project offers 5 - 10 minutes of playtime per session. Below are some of the most popular attractions.
The snow slide at the Songhua River Ice and Snow Carnival, located behind the Flood Control Memorial Tower, is 300 meters long and has a steep slope. Visitors slide down from the top of the slope by sitting on a tire-made sliding ring. The slide not only offers an exhilarating sense of weightlessness but also ensures safety throughout the experience.
Visitors in this program have to be inside a giant octopus-shaped snow circle secured with safety harnesses to avoid any accidents. The snow circle is attached to the back of a car speeding across the ice. As the car skids and spins, the snow circle follows suit, spinning erratically at dizzying speeds, like an out-of-control wild horse. The visitors are transported from calm to pure exhilaration.
Hop onto the snowmobile and hold the handlebars in both hands. As the engine roars and the snow splashes, speed and passion ignite instantly. Experience the thrill of racing across the vast white snow. Sometimes accelerate across the snow slope, flexibly turn, savor the exhilarating sensation of centrifugal force, and feel the unique excitement and joy in winter.
The ice hovercraft of Songhua River Ice and Snow Carnival is a thrilling attraction that promises an unforgettable experience. It is powered by high-pressure air that forms a cushion between the bottom of the ship and the ice and can speed across the ice at 60 kilometers per hour. Tourists riding in it can not only feel the exhilarating push-back sensation during rapid acceleration but also experience the thrill and excitement of the snow drift and this experience offers a perfect blend of speed and passion on the surface of the Songhua River. Sitting on the hovercraft, you can have a wide view of the snow and ice on both sides of the Songhua River.
Visitors in the transparent ball, rolling or colliding on the white snow, experience unrestrained joy. Whether families play together and enjoy the warm interaction time or friends team up for a laugh-filled competition, everyone can enjoy the fun. In the Snow Zorb, you can not only experience the excitement of weightlessness and rotation but also have a panoramic view of the surrounding snow-covered landscape.
The Diamond Sea of the Songhua River gets its name from the ice piled along the riverbank, which sparkles like diamonds under the sun. These ice blocks, left over from the ice of the Snow and Ice World, are each almost 40 centimeters thick and cover the entire river bank. Walking into this area feels like stepping into a dreamlike world of snow and ice, with the ice gleaming blue under the sunlight, as bright as diamonds. The best time to visit is from 2pm to 4pm when you can enjoy both the pure blue ice and the beautiful sunset.
The Harbin Songhua River Railway Bridge is the earliest railway bridge over the Songhua River and the first cross-river bridge in Harbin. It was built in 1900 and completed in 1901. It has witnessed over a century of historical changes in Harbin. The bridge is 1,015 meters long and 7.2 meters miles wide, with a total of 19 spans. In 2016, it was transformed into the Middle East Railway Museum sightseeing pedestrian bridge. Walking along the bridge, visitors can admire the steel beams and rails up close, experience its industrial charm, and enjoy sweeping views of the Songhua River and the scenery on both banks.
