These are the terms and conditions which apply to your booking. Please read them carefully as you will be bound by them.

1. Payment

Deposit & Final payment

In order to confirm your tailor made tour, a deposit of 10% of the total tour cost (or full payment if booking within 30 days prior departure) must be paid at the time of booking. The balance will be required 30 days before departure.

We are now able to offer 2 methods of Payment:

  1. Visa or MasterCard secure online payment via PayPal.

Disclaimer of Difference Caused by Exchange Rate

China Educational Tours currently quotes tour prices in US Dollars on our web site to give you an idea of the tour cost and quote in CNY to you at the time when you are making bookings.

  1. Should a revaluation of the Chinese Renminbi (CNY) occur, China Educational Tours will honor all quotations for tours that have been fully paid at the time of the revaluation.
  2. Customers who have not paid for their tour in full at the time of any revaluation will be required to pay the difference between the previous and current prices calculated in Renminbi (CNY).

2. Cancellation

  1. Cancellation received before departure: 100 % refund of all money paid excluding penalties if applicable charged by hotels, airlines, cruise companies, rail and others. All penalties will be itemized.
  2. No-show travelers will be charged 100% of the tour price.
  3. After the trip has commenced, we are unable to refund any amount for unused services due to your willingness, early departure, late arrival, or missed days on tours.
  4. Depending on the reason for cancellation, you may be able to reclaim these cancellation charges (less any applicable excess) under the terms of your insurance policy. Claims must be made directly to the insurance company concerned and we have no liability in these circumstances.

3. Change Your Booking

If you wish to change your travel arrangements in any way after our confirmation invoice has been issued, we will endeavor to make these changes, but it may not always be possible. Any request for changes to be made, you will be asked to pay any costs or charges incurred or imposed by any of our suppliers in making this alteration accordingly.

4. Travel Documentation

All clients must be in possession of a valid passport and necessary visas or permits at the commencement of travel. All such documentation is the sole responsibility of the client. Your travel advisor may assist you in applying for the necessary travel documentation upon request. China Educational Tours accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the failure of clients to obtain appropriate documentation.

5. Luggage Allowance

As specified by the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, check-in luggage for domestic flights is 20kg (44 lbs) for the economy class, 30kg (66 lbs) for the business class, and 40kg (88 lbs) for the first class.

Hand luggage is allowed less than 5kg (11 lbs) in total and within the size of 20×40×55 each piece (standards of different airlines may different slightly).

6. Insurance

It is a condition of booking with us that you take your own suitable travel insurance to China, covering at least circumstances leading to the cancellation of your booking and providing sufficient medical cover for illness or injury and repatriation.

China Educational Tours tour packages include China Life Tourist Accident/Casualty Insurance up to a maximum of $29,000 provided free of charge as part of our package.

7. Complaints and Claims

If you have a problem during your holiday concerning any service provided as part of the arrangements we have confirmed, you must inform your National Escort or Local Guide (or, if none available, with our local agent or hotel manager) immediately to enable them to try to resolve the matter. Any notification must be put in writing and given to our representative / agent and the supplier as soon as possible. Our emergency number is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Until we know about a complaint or problem, we cannot begin to resolve it. If you remain dissatisfied, however, you must write to us within 15 days of your return giving your booking reference and full details of your complaint. If you fail to follow this simple complaints procedure, your right to claim any compensation you may otherwise have been entitled to may be affected or even lost as a result.

8. Medical Issues

It's required to advise us in writing, at or before your booking, of any physical, emotional or mental issue that probably requires professional care or use of particular equipment on the trip.

Please bring your own foldable wheelchair with you, and please note that some conditions and certain kind of tour are not friendly to wheelchair. China Educational Tours cannot guarantee any wheelchair assistance or accessibility in destinations outside of China.

China Educational Tours reserves the right to reject any clients whose condition, in our opinion, may affect the health, safety of other participants.

We won't be able to accommodate women who are pregnant for 6 months or longer.Clients should consider all the risks regarding to international travel and understand the health requirements of their destination. It's clients' responsibility to check the safety & security conditions of your destination and the area you are going to transit through.

For tourists to Tibet, it's required to offer a doctor's certificate proving their normal blood pressure and heart condition are suitable for a tour to Tibet.

Clients should check and follow the health & vaccination requirements necessary to enter their destination and transit area. It's better to consult your doctor or local department of health in advance.

9. Force Majeure

Except where otherwise expressly stated in these booking conditions, we regret we will not accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our obligations under our contract with you is prevented or affected by or you otherwise suffer any damage, loss or expense of any nature as a result of "force majeure". In these booking conditions, "force majeure" means any event, or the consequences of which, we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events are not limited to but may include actual or threatened war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, volcanic activity, seismic activity, fire, pandemics, epidemics and all similar events, natural or manmade, outside our control or that of our agents or suppliers.

10. Liability & Responsibility

  1. We will take reasonable care to ensure that the holiday arrangements we have agreed to make, perform or provide as part of our contract with you are made, performed or provided with reasonable skill and care. This means that, subject to these booking conditions, we may accept responsibility if, for example, you suffer death or personal injury or your contracted holiday arrangements are not provided as promised or prove deficient as a result solely of the failure of ourselves, our employees, agents or suppliers to use reasonable skill and care in making, performing or providing, as applicable, your contracted holiday arrangements. Please note, it is your responsibility to show that reasonable skill and care has not been used and you have suffered loss as a result if you wish to make a claim against us. In addition, we will only be responsible for what our employees, agents and suppliers do or do not do if they were at the time acting within the course of their employment (for employees) or carrying out work we had asked them to do (for agents and suppliers).
  2. We will not be responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss (for example loss of enjoyment), damage, expense, cost or other sum or claim of any description whatsoever which results from any of the following:
    1. the act(s) and/or omission(s) of the person(s) affected or any member(s) of their party or
    2. the act(s) and/or omission(s) of a third party not connected with the provision of your holiday and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable or
    3. force majeure as defined in clause 11 below
  3. Please note, we cannot accept responsibility for any services which do not form part of our contract. This includes, for example, any additional services or facilities which your hotel or any other supplier agrees to provide for you where the services or facilities are not advertised by us and we have not agreed to arrange them as part of our contract including any excursion you purchase in resort. Please also see clause 12 "Excursions". In addition, regardless of any wording used by us on our website, in any advertising material or elsewhere, we only promise to use reasonable skill and care in performing our contractual obligation as set out above and we do not have any greater or different liability to you.
  4. As set out in these booking conditions, we limit the maximum amount we may have to pay you for any claims you may make against us. Where we are found liable for loss of and/or damage to any luggage or personal possessions (including money), the maximum amount we will have to pay you is USD200 per person affected unless a different limitation applies to your claim under this clause or clause 10(6) below. You must ensure you have appropriate travel insurance to protect your personal belongings.
  5. Where any claim or part of a claim (including those involving death or personal injury) concerns or is based on any travel arrangements (including the process of getting on and/or off the transport concerned) provided by any air, sea, rail or road carrier to which any international convention or regulation applies, the maximum amount of compensation we will have to pay you will be limited. The most we will have to pay you for that claim or that part of a claim if we are found liable to you on any basis is the most the carrier concerned would have to pay under the international convention or regulation which applies to the travel arrangements in question.
  6. Please note, we cannot accept any liability for any damage, loss, expense or other sum(s) of any description (1) which on the basis of the information given to us by you concerning your booking prior to our accepting it, we could not have foreseen you would suffer or incur if we breached our contract with you or (2) which did not result from any breach of contract or other fault by ourselves or our employees or, where we are responsible for them, our suppliers. Additionally we cannot accept liability for any business losses including self employed loss of earnings.
