Nanjiang Grand Canyon is located in Kaiyang County, the central part of Guizhou Plateau. The 4A-level national tourist attraction is 54 kilometers away from the provincial capital. You can find one of Eight Top Scenic Spots in Guiyang. It is known as the “Karst Ecological Museum”, and features a typical and magnificent karst valley and a variety of grand waterfall clusters. The scenery is just magnificent.
The karst landform in the scenic area of Nanjiang Grand Canyon is typical. High mountains, steep ridges and deep valleys are all part of the magnificent scene. The well retained plants cover over 80% of the surface. Many flora and fauna can be found here, including some interesting Chinese herbs. The hydrology of this landscape is also very beautiful. For example, the Golden Bell Waterfall and the Ganoderma Lucidum Waterfall are both misty waterfalls. There are many others including Echo Four-in-One waterfalls, Sky Waterfall, Golden Bell Waterfall, Water Falling Pavilion Fall, Dripping Waterfall, Monkey King and Avalokitesvara Waterfall, Dragon into Sea Waterfall, Zhuge Liang Waterfall, Monster in the Stone Gate Waterfall, Showering Lady Waterfall, Bronze Drum Rock, and Elephant Drawing Water Waterfall. All of these scenic spots belong to 4A-level scenes.
Numerous peaks stand out along the 40 km canyon. The deepest place reaches a depth of 398 meters. Scientists believe that the stratum is ancient and the water cuts deep into the land. The typical low-medium mountain valley landscape is magnificent and beautiful. There are more than 80 natural landscapes in the valley, and more than 40 waterfalls. Shexiang Waterfall within the scenery of Xiaojiangnan has a drop of more than 150 meters.
Ladder Rock National Customs Park is the first stop for Nanjiang Grand Canyon Park. The ethnic customs garden is densely landscaped with tropical trees and vines. The rural farmhouses are built there. It is an excellent tourism environment combining ecological environment and folk culture. In the park, you can enjoy Diaojiaolou (hanging attics) and Fengyu (wind and rain) bridges with Miao Nationality characteristics. Leaning against "the seat for beauty", you can look far away into the farthest point of the canyon.
It is believed that this travertine waterfall of over 30 meters height is the largest travertine waterfall in China. The ‘travertine’ is formed from the rich calcium in the water, with precipitates being left as the water flows. After a geological epoch, the water runs above the sediment. The most interesting thing is that this travertine waterfall is hollow, and you can get in from the bottom, and then stick your head out from the hole. The number of waterfalls in the Nanjiang Grand Canyon totals 48. There is Elephant Trunk Waterfall, Mandarin Duck Water Fall, and Shexiang Waterfall with a drop of 150 meters. Among the numerous waters, egrets fly around, sometimes picking up fish in their beak. The scene is just beyond description.
The length is 5.2 kilometers. The mountains on both sides are splendid. Stalactites on the cliffs are densely covered, and forest stones are very typical karst landform. From the Longmen Bridge to the Bellmouth, the water runs slowly. And for the section between Bellmouth to Tongluo Village, the river moved more rapidly and the body gets clearer. At Luogu Flat Ground, there are aquatic options for activities such as bamboo rafts, canoes and motorboats for tourists. There are many caves and waterfalls. The water there is calm and reflects like a mirror. The air is good for the mood of love.
