Guilin Karst Landscape and Ethnic Minority Discovery

Welcome to Guilin! Your local tour guide will be waiting for you at the arrival hall of Guilin Liangjiang International Airport (KWL), holding a sign with your name on it. After meeting each other, the guide will accompany you to your hotel in a private car and help you to check in.
You can walk along Zhengyang Pedestrian Street in the evening, searching for some local snacks, restaurants and bars.

Located in the north of Guilin, about 2-hour’s drive from downtown, Ping’an Village is known for its minority Zhuang people and two famous viewing platforms of the Terraced Rice Fields. The terraces turn golden at the end of September every year. There are a great many steps to the top of the mountain but at an easy physical level of difficulty. Take your time and stop anywhere to enjoy the scenery on the way up. The local Zhuang people are very kind and have lived for the terraces for hundreds of years. No industry and machinery appear in this village; everything is made by hand. You can see the locals working on the fields using only simple farm tools.

After lunch, your guide and driver will take you back to Guilin city. You may have seen many caves, but the Reed Flute Cave is quite special. Walking in the cave, every step is a matter of wonder to enjoy the stunning beauty of the natural shapes of stalagmites and stalactites. The illuminated cave looks like an incredible fantasy in the photos and the large reflective pond in the main chamber is an outstanding one.

Today, you are going to sail from Guilin to Yangshuo. Your tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and take you to the pier. Then the driver will bring along your luggage, driving to Yangshuo directly.
Li River and solitary Karst mountains is the classic picture that you have seen about Guilin. Sailing on the river is the best way to appreciate the natural landscape. People are washing clothes, kids are swimming, fishermen are rafting with their bamboo boats, and water buffaloes are eating grasses, all of which make a picture of real countryside life in China. Lunch will be served on board. You will disembark in Yangshuo, walk through the West Street, and get to your hotel.

There is a saying in China that hunger breeds discontentment. It proves that food plays a very important role in Chinese people’s daily life. Chinese Cuisine is a part of traditional Chinese culture. What you are going to experience from the Cooking Class:

“Yangshuo landscape tops that of Guilin,” is said by local people. Yangshuo is a small cozy town which a bike gives easy access to. You can stop anywhere and take pictures as you wish. Visit local people’s houses, talk to them and listen to their stories; walk along the paddy fields and see the villages hidden among the mountains and rivers. Those are the best the locals can display.

After lunch, the guide and driver will transfer you to Guilin airport / train station for your next destination.
