This is the most lively and popular pedestrian street in downtown Guilin. 666 meters in length, and perpendicular to Zhengyang gate of Mingwang city, it was the main pathway for Ming dynasty aristocrats when they went out of the palace, thus called Zhengyang (literally the “first sun”) street. A 17.5m red bell tower stands at the center of the street. With a large ancient bell hanging from it, the tower has now become the most prominent landmark of the pedestrian street. Here you can taste popular Guilin dishes, unique local snacks, and various exotic delicacies. After feasting, taking a stroll around the neighboring Lijiang Waterfall Hotel to admire the great waterfall would also be a good choice.
