Spanning 2515km (1572miles) from east to west in northern China, Inner Mongolia has a lot to offer for visitors, with its dense forest, rivers, and beautiful grasslands in the east. Upon arrival and the Hohhot Baita International Airport, IATA: HET, our guide and driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to rest or explore the area around your hotel.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the Xilamuren grassland to visit Mongolian herdsmen's families, dress up in Mongolian outfits, learn to speak and write the Mongolian language (Inner Mongolia is one of the only places in the world that still uses traditional Mongolian script), and experience Mongolian archery, some traditional activities, and entertainment. For lunch, you will learn to make Mongolian milk tea, Grabbing Mutton, Boortsog (Deep-fried butter cookies), and other Mongolian specialties. After lunch, ride across the grassland to visit Swan Lake, and then you will return to Hohhot for dinner, where you can sit back, relax and enjoy a Mongolian Hot Pot.
Pack your bags as, after breakfast at your hotel, you will head out to Xiangshawan (Resonant Sand Bay) of the Kubuqi Desert, the seventh-largest desert in China. Xiangshawan is also known as “the sounding sands”, a phenomenon that occurs when wind pushes sand down dunes and creates a humming sound. There are many Mongolian-themed performances, camel rides, desert swings, surfing, and much more, to make your day a thrilling one. In winter, you can experience all kinds of Snow activities at the ski resort here .From there, you will embark to Dalate, where you will spend the night.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken to visit Kangbashi District of Ordos; the district was known as China’s Largest Ghost City in the early days of its construction. Today, it is a city of world-class architecture, extravagant plazas, international scale stadiums, and seas of new housing that rose from the barren deserts in less than a decade. Today, you will visit the Mongolian Chess Square, Asian Sculpture Art Theme Park, and Ordos Museum. There is a visit to the Genghis Khan Mausoleum, though Genghis Khan was not buried there (his resting place has never been found), you can still see his saddle, bow, and other treasures. You will also learn about the Darkhad people - The Guardians of Genghis Khan’s Mausoleum for almost 800 years. After the tour, you will be driven to Baotou and spend the night there.
After breakfast in the hotel, you will visit Baotou Museum, the ancient rock paintings and Mongolian Tangka painting exhibitions are not to be missed. Tangka paintings often depict Buddhist deities or mythological scenes. Baotou is China's rare earth hub, so rare-earth elements also become a theme in the museum. Afterward, you will visit Wudangzhao Monastery, one of the four largest Tibetan Buddhist temples in China, together with Potala Palace in Tibet, Ta'er Monastery in Qinghai, and Labrang Monastery in Gansu. After the visit, you will be driven back to Hohhot, about 2.5 hrs drive, overnight in Hohhot.
This is your last day in Inner Mongolia. After breakfast in the hotel, there is a visit to the Inner Mongolia Museum of Natural History. It showcases Inner Mongolia's natural resources and traditional medicine. The dinosaur exhibition hall will be one of today’s highlights that should not be missed. After the visit, you will be taken to the airport or train station where we say farewell.
