Siwawa is a special treat in Guiyang. The eatery does not look that high-end, but the taste is really good. The wrap is chewy yet tender, and the sauce is made from sour taste or original taste soup with fried soybeans, chopped shallots, baked chili and the Chinese herb ‘litsea’. The crispy vegetables and the refreshing sour juice will be enjoyed at the same time on the first bite. It is favored by both tourists and locals.

3. Tufeng Doumi Hot Pot (Qianling East Road Branch)
Tufeng Doumi Hot Pot has a number of branches in Guiyang. The decoration in the branch is simple, and the service is excellent. Doumi (bean rice) is sweet and tender. The juice is thick and it goes well with the bean rice. They have many good dishes on the menu with agreeable pricing.

4. Xie’s Century Glutinous Rice Cake
People who come to Qingyan Ancient Town would go there and order a bowl of Glutinous Rice Cake, also called Gaoba. It is said that the recipe came from the Forbidden City. And it was soon highly welcomed in Guizhou. The handmade paste is made from 21 ingredients, and so there is a real knack to making it.

5. Wan’s Restaurant

6. Xiaoya Home Cooking (Hunter International Plaza Branch)
The lovely, small home-style restaurant uses green and white colors. The mint green and white colors dominate the inn, and even the table ware is in those colors. So the interior looks terrific in photos. Books, shelves, bonsai and all decorations are part of the setting. All of that, along with the cute illustrations painted over the walls, make it obvious that the host put heaps of effort into developing the ambience of the inn.

Authentic dishes are provided here and many branches can be found across the city. Zuozang Sanku Branch is close to Zuozang Sanku Antique Market. It has a relaxing, vintage atmosphere. There are wax printing decorations and carved wooden screens. Mom’s Dish always provides guests with delicious Guizhou dishes that are spicy and sour. In addition to dishes, the home-made liquor Shujiu is also very popular.

The restaurant has a genuine ethnic appearance, which helps to create a great appetite for the sour soup fish there.
