The glass bridge at The Grand Canyon in Zhangjiajie is called “Yuntiandu” (cloud sky pass). It is a bridge designed to help visitors appreciate the landscape. As well as providing passage from A to B, it is used for sightseeing, bungee jumping, and it has a cableway and a T stage. Its main span reaches 430 meters and the span across the canyon is 375 meters long and 6 meters wide, with the relative height of nearly 300 meters above the valley bottom. As the world’s first cable-stayed high mountain canyon glass bridge, the glass bridge is also the first bridge made of an advanced composite material.
The glass bridge of the grand canyon of Zhangjiajie is located at a high altitude section of the canyon. As a transparent glass bridge, it traverses between two mountains without any support in the middle, and is flanked by cliffs. When standing on the world’s longest and highest transparent glass bridge, you can appreciate the landscape all around. The glass bridge of the grand canyon of Zhangjiajie was designed by an Israeli international bridge architectural designer with Chinese traditional elements. Its design originated from a Chinese knot, representing good luck and happiness. When you step on, the canyon is at your feet. Looking down, you can clearly see the cliffs and precipices under your feet. It is very exciting to look out over the landscape from the height of over 300 meters. The completed glass bridge is a cable-stayed high mountain canyon glass bridge and breaks many world records.
With mountains, rivers and caves integrated, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is the museum of Zhangjiajie landforms, where you can appreciate the whole scenery of karst topography in the north temperate zone. In the canyon, the air is fresh, groups of monkeys dance with joy, flocks of birds contend in singing, mountains reflect on the clear lake, and ducks play in the water. Waterfalls in various shapes pour down with infinite vitality; the vegetation zone varying with elevation reflects the alternation of four season; with the charm of thousands of years, plates of hundreds of meters and the ten-thousand-meter-long corridor against rainbows decorate the picturesque canyon.
