Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theatre

The Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theatre is the largest and top-tier performing arts troupe in the Cantonese opera field. Wanfu Stage of the Foshan Ancestral Temple

Wanfu Stage is located inside the Foshan Ancestral Temple. It was built in 1658 and is a stage specially for opera performances. It was originally named Huafeng Stage and was renamed Wanfu Stage during the Guangxu period (1875 - 1908). Foshan is the birthplace of Cantonese opera, and Wanfu Stage has played an important role in promoting and leading the development of Cantonese opera. Nowadays, Cantonese opera troupes from all over the world regard Wanfu Stage as the origin of Cantonese opera. As a brand of Foshan culture and a platform for foreign exchanges, Wanfu Stage has brought Foshan's Cantonese opera culture to the world.

Shunfu Stage of Cantonese Opera Grand View Garden

The total area of the Cantonese Opera Grand View Garden is nearly 3,000 square meters. It officially opened to the public in October 2019. The Cantonese Opera Grand View Garden combines two precious art treasures of Guangfu-Cantonese opera and Lingnan gardens. It integrates traditional cultural elements such as Cantonese opera into the park's antique-style building complex and shows the development process of Cantonese opera in Shunde. The Cantonese Opera Grand View Garden integrates traditional cultural elements such as Cantonese opera into the park's antique-style building complex, renovates and constructs ten independent buildings such as Qionghua Building and Bahe Hall. They respectively tell the ancient and modern changes of Cantonese opera, the performance forms of Cantonese opera, costumes and props, and classic famous operas, showing the development process of Cantonese opera in Shunde. There is a Shunfu Stage in the garden, which is made with reference to the traditional Cantonese opera stage and provides Cantonese opera performances.

Foshan Cantonese Opera Troupe

The Foshan Cantonese Opera Theatre was built in 1957. In 2011, it integrated the Foshan Youth Cantonese Opera Troupe and Foshan Drama Troupe and was originally named Foshan Cantonese Opera Training Institute. The Foshan Cantonese Opera Theatre has cultivated several professional Cantonese opera performing-arts groups. Many famous Cantonese opera performing artists such as Liang Yintang and Zhong Zhuofang have emerged successively. The theatre's classic plays such as Shunzhi and Dong E Fei, Foshan Huang Feihong, New Biography of Li Qingzhao, Jinshi Peony Pavilion and a batch of outstanding works have won many awards such as the Drama Awards of the Chinese Drama Festival, the First Prize of the Guangdong Arts Festival, the Lu Xun Literature Award of Guangdong, and the Foshan Literary High-Quality Works Award.

Foshan Jinma Theater

Foshan Jinma Theater, built in 1994, has a complete set of high-end audio equipment from the USA and the UK. With 766 deluxe seats-a mix of low-back and sofa-back-the theatre has received nearly 100 well-known foreign performing groups in the past ten years from such countries as Britain, France, Germany, the USA, Russia, and Brazil, all of which have presented great artistic masterpieces to the public. Hence the theatre was hailed as 'the palace of high art in Foshan' by both the public and the media.
