Guiyang Weather

Guiyang is located in the central part of Guizhou Province. It is right in the middle of Central Guizhou Plains, which is the Yangtze River and the Pearl River watershed, or the Qiuyuan Basin area, to be more exact. Controlled by the westerlies, it features a mild subtropical humid climate. There is no intense heat in summer in Guiyang. The average summer temperature is around 24°C/75.2°F, and the rain is abundant. The winter is cold, with the average minimum temperature around 2°C/35.6°F, and the lowest temperature staying around -3°C.

Spring

Weather: The temperature in Guiyang in spring is around -4°C/24.8°F – 25°C/77°F. It is cold and there is very little rainfall. It is mainly either sunny or cloudy.

Clothing: From 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, put on heavy coats and thermal bottoms. From 6 pm to 10 am on the next day, down jackets and fine sweaters are required.

Things to do: In the spring in Guiyang, you can appreciate flowers around Tianhe Lake, and the fresh air flowing from the tea plantation in the clouds in Cloud Mountain in Kaiyang.
Ancient town named Qingyan offers black tiles, pavilions, bridges and villages.

Summer

Weather: the temperature averages between 14℃/57.2℉ and 29℃/84.2℉. It is hot and it rains a lot.

Clothing: From 9 am to 6 pm, wear shorts or skirts and T-shirts. Jackets and trousers are proper for the time between 7:00pm and 8:00am the next morning. Bring rain gear or waterproof clothing for the frequent rainfall. When it is clear, take measures to avoid sunburn.

Things to do: Tourists come to Guiyang in summer to embrace the view of the turquoise lakes under the azure sky. The light pink of the lotus flowers at Shili River Beach and the tour of the ancient town all bring the joy of coolness in summer.

Autumn

Weather: The autumn is relatively cool, and the rainfall gradually decreases. The average maximum temperature stays around 25°C/77°F.

Clothing: For day time, put on T-shirts and trousers. For the dawn and dark time, put on extra jackets.

Things to do: When wind blows over Guanshan Lake, the coolness spreads. Tall sycamore, golden ginkgo, and evergreen trees are twined with flowers. It is beautiful.

Winter

Weather: It is cold in winter with great temperature differences between day and night. The lowest temperature is around 0°C/32°F.

Clothing: From 11:00am to 4:00pm, put on jackets, fine sweaters and trousers, and from 6 pm to 10 am the next morning, wear down jackets and cotton-padded clothes to keep warm.

Things to do: Many hot springs in Guiyang will bring you warmth. Yunding Mountain Ski Resort and the Fantasy Ice Kingdom will bring the fun of snow.
