Dali City is located in the northwestern part of Yunnan Province, at the southern end of the Hengduan Mountains. As part of Erhai Plain on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, it is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. Amidst the complex terrains, there are alpine valleys and steep slopes. Many basins can be found, and most of the basins are linear in a strip-like distribution. The climate type is the north subtropical plateau monsoon, with an average annual temperature of 14°C/57.2°F and annual sunshine hours of about 2227 hours. It is quite windy too.

Weather: The temperature averages between 7℃/44.6℉ and 17°C/68℉, and it is usually cold and dry.
Clothing: From 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, put on heavy coats and thermal bottoms. From 6 pm to 10 am the next day, down jackets, fine sweaters and cotton-padded coats are required.

Clothing: From 8 am to 6 pm, wear a pair of shorts or a skirt and a T-shirt, and wear a thin jacket and trousers from 7:00pm to 8:00am the next morning. For high UV radiation there, pay attention to sun protection and heatstroke. As it rains frequently, bring your rain gear for outdoor activities.
Things to do: Erhai is even beautiful under the blue sky. When the breezes blow, one can appreciate the coolness on the seaside. The azaleas and large rapeseeds on the mountains really bring visual treats and relaxation.
